Custom Tuxedos ⭑ Created in Houston
At B. Kreps, Houston’s top bespoke tailor, every custom tuxedo begins with your purpose. Perhaps you want a classic midnight blue for a formal gala, a traditional black dinner jacket for weddings, or a more modern interpretation with contrasting lapels or velvet. We source from the finest English and Italian mills to give you cloths that hold their shape under evening lights, drape with elegance, and breathe with ease.
A tuxedo is not simply a suit in darker cloth—it is a separate category of evening wear with its own set of traditions, rules, and possibilities. The lapels may be peaked or shawl. Facings can be in silk satin, grosgrain, or faille. The trousers should have a braid down the leg. The jacket itself is cut with a longer, cleaner line than a business suit—achieving that sharp, upright balance which sets black tie apart from business attire.
A tuxedo is only as good as its fit.
As Houston’s only full service custom tailor, we build every garment around a try-on fitting. This stage happens early in the process and allows us to make more than 30 adjustments—capturing the pitch of your shoulders, the way you carry your chest, the fall of your arms, and the balance between front and back. These refinements ensure your tuxedo looks commanding whether you are standing for photographs, seated at a banquet, or moving on the dance floor.
From there, your pattern is finalized and the garment is cut and sewn by our atelier in Amsterdam. You return for a second fitting in Houston, where we fine-tune the tuxedo before it is completed. All refinements are logged in your personal pattern, giving you continuity for future commissions. The full process—from first consultation to finished garment—takes 5–6 weeks.
Your fabric and detail choices
Your custom tuxedo offers endless opportunities for expression. Choose between:
Lapel styles: peak lapel for presence, shawl lapel for fluid elegance.
Facings: satin for shine, grosgrain for texture, velvet for richness.
Cloths: midnight blue barathea, black mohair blends for crispness, or lighter-weight tropical wool for Houston evenings.
Accents: side adjusters on trousers, waistcoat or cummerbund, hand-finished buttonholes, and silk-covered buttons.
Not sure how to choose among all of these options? Don’t worry. We’re here to help so that you end up with a garment that fits and flatters you perfectly.

While it is possible to conduct fittings outside of the store, we strongly encourage our clients to visit our store for the first fitting at least. It allows us to show you the full selection of fabrics and customization options available to you, in addition to learning your lifestyle and sartorial preferences.
We believe the in-store experience is one of the joys of bespoke clothing and our customer testimonials prove that point emphatically. The truth is, it is hard to reproduce that experience in a time-pressured office environment. Once we have fine-tuned your fit, we can bring fabrics and styling accessories to your office. But then you miss out on spending time with Magic the Dawg!
